Watched Don't Look Up on Netflix before crashing out this morning and I gotta say. Satire's best when satire doesn't hit quite so close to trufax reality and these days I could just see that shit happening. Man, fuck politicians who ignore scientists and hard data.

Mostly I'm pissed because I feel like I should've really enjoyed the movie but I'm ambivalent because it made me feel Real Things (frustration, annoyance, vague hopelessness) about Real Life and that's not why I watch movies. See: Tremors, Sharknado, etc.

This is why I don't watch science movies. The politics are always too real yet the science is generally very bad.

I mean, it's worth watching if only cause of how hard it leans into calling out US politics from the last 4-5 years. And I mean, it calls that shit out hard.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for some classic bad sci fi - me and Tasha mainline Tremors and Sharknado almost yearly when we're able. It's just... yeah. Throwing politics in on top of the science... which, actually, the science was well represented, which is what made it so believable.
